How We Met

I'm sure that DJ is going to add his own version of this story because he thinks I always leave out the good stuff. The funny thing is when you put both of our versions together, the story turns into a novel.

Ok so this is my version.

DJ and I met a little over a year ago at a dance in Spokane. I would come up from Pullman to scope out the guys up here. I started "dating" a guy from CDA right around the same time I met DJ. It was awesome because he would always ask me to dance and if would make the guy I was with pretty jealous.

When I moved up to Spokane in November of 2007 I was dating a guy down in Moscow and working in Pullman every weekend so I didn't really get into the Spokane scene until News Years. There was an ice skating party so I went with a good friend Matt. I noticed DJ was there and had also noticed that he had not paid any attention to me since I moved to Spokane. It took him the whole activity to finally come up and talk to me. I said to him, "Don't we know each other." It was all history from there. We saw each other the next night at a CES fireside, (it was Elder Tingey speaking about preparing to get married. This was a huge night for me because I was still avoiding serious relationships after the failed engagement. It was that talked that convinced me that I was ready to try it again.) He convinced me to play Ultimate Frisbee with a bunch of people I didn't know the next night. At Ultimate Frisbee he asked me out in front of everyone and we went on our first date that Saturday. On Friday we went to a dance together (which was lame) so we ditched it to watch Arrested Development. We laughed all night Friday night and our date on Saturday was awesome. We went tubing down Silver Mountain then ended up kissing in the snow. It was one of those first kisses that you see in the movies, perfect opportunity, setting, and atmosphere. We knew we were right for each other two days later and haven't had a doubt since. An institute director once told me that getting married is the biggest decision of your eternity, so you're going to get a strong witness from the spirit when its right. I always hoped that was true, and it is.
